Welcome Pr. Lura!
I wouldn't just give up, but be wary. I felt insane and crazy for being upset and considered just leaving ASAP. Best wishes in whatever you decide. I've never understood that bit of the LDS culture. I don't really care if she's religious or not, unless she brings it up all the time or tries to convert me. While the Church allows dating at 16, it discourages serious relationships until you both are older and considering marriage.
If you do believe it fully, are you not really going to want him to make the conversion ultimately. Even after that, the Church discourages youth from entering serious relationships before they are considering marriage. If your relationship is moving forward, or she suggests doing something more expensive, it is not inappropriate for her to help pay as well. As such, it tends to attract the young and insecure. Pants-to-Church Sunday left me a bit bruised. Mormons observe the Sabbath closely, so Sundays are for attending church meetings and focusing on their spirituality.
